Growing your beard can be quite an ordeal. While it may add to your overall charm and style, the different methods of care and maintenance done to it is a lot more demanding than your average hair-care routine. Even short beards aren’t safe from this, as it also requires utmost care and attention in order to maintain its vibrant glow!

With all of that being said, having a dry beard may be one of the most frustrating things that a person may experience. While it isn’t necessarily a common occurrence, the constant shaving of your beard may further instigate its sharp ends. If you want to know how to treat its dryness, look no further than the following tips.

Moisturize It

The most obvious problem with your dry beard is that it lacks any sign of moisture! As with the other hairs on your body,  there’s a tendency for it to lose its dampness once it’s exposed to the heat of the sun for a very long time.

Given that, you may need to use natural beard oil on it in order to remedy its dryness. This would also mitigate the offset of beard dandruff that is also caused by lack of moisture.

Wash It

Most of the time, its dryness could be attributed to its lack of rinsing and washing. In such a case, every time you’d take a shower, be sure to wash it as well.

Normal shampoo will not work on it, so you will need to avail of a specialized beard wash. Rinse off grime, dead hair, dead skin cells, and oil so that it wouldn’t itch after showering!

Brush It

No one likes unkempt hair. Not only is it very unattractive, but it’s an eyesore, and it’s very distracting!

The same principle applies to your beard as well. After washing and rinsing off the dirt build-up, you would need to brush it with soft microfibers to avoid scratching the skin under it. Of course, different people have different beard lengths and styles, so feel free to brush it any way you’d want to—so long as you don't overdo it!

Soften It

There’s a tendency for your beard to feel stiff when it’s dry. Because of this, you may need to apply a specialized conditioner in order to soften it up. This is usually done after rinsing off the specialized shampoo, so make sure to read both their labels.

Consult a hair expert if you’re still unsure about these specific hair-care products.

Fix It

A beard is a lot different than the hair on top of your head. It requires a specific type of care and maintenance! Because of this, you will need to look out for ingrown hair follicles and pimples underneath your beard.

Certain creams are made for this particular purpose. If you want to consult professional help, then go for a hair expert near you!

Conclusion

Beards may look similar to the other hairs on our bodies; however, their growth is a lot different than expected. Exposing them to constant heat would not only dry them up, but they would also have dry skin follicles underneath, causing other complications along the way. Invest in a good beard-care product, regularly wash and moisturize them, and watch your beard earn back its lush in no time!
