Do not be discouraged if you notice that other men have beards that are fuller and more symmetrical than yours. While a special few are seemingly blessed by the gods with the ability to grow facial hair perfectly and quickly, most of the majestic beards we see are the result of meticulous grooming and patience.

It’s very likely not anything you’re doing; genetics is a lottery that not everyone wins. Having said that, there are still plenty of things you can do to help it along. To help you grow from a patchy mess to that luscious lumberjack/sexy Hagrid look you’ve always wanted, we have created this guide to growing beards. With no further ado, here are X things you can do for a fuller beard:

1 - Let it grow

Not every follicle is perfect, so your hair will likely grow at different rates. The best way to deal with this is to simply let it grow. After all your hair reaches a certain length, you can trim them down to the appropriate length and shape. This is also the only way to know if your other follicles will ever follow suit. Letting the beard grow will reveal the true shape of your facial hair, allowing you to style it as needed.

2 - Exfoliate

The follicles, which are responsible for hair growth, are in the skin. You need to take care of your skin if you want your beard to grow properly. This involves exfoliating at times to remove dirt and other debris from the pores. With clear and healthy pores, there’s more room for your beard to grow. This also reduces the chance of ingrown hairs, as the strands will have an easier time breaking through the skin.

There are plenty of exfoliants on the market, but beard growers require beard products like the Boar Hair Beard Brush for the skin under the mane.

3 - Trim

Split ends can slow down or halt hair growth entirely. Trimming will stimulate continuous growth. When doing so, try to use high-quality clippers. These are sharp enough to cut cleanly through the hair without fraying the ends.

If your hair is persistently uneven, it might also be better to experiment with smaller styles. You never know if that goatee or mustache will look good on you until you try!

4 - Use the right beard products

Beard products only have an indirect effect on your beard growth. While there is no product that can make your mane grow faster, there are plenty of products that create the optimum conditions for healthy follicles. The healthier your follicles, the faster and healthier the hair.

Some of the beard products you need include a beard shampoo and conditioner for cleanliness, beard oils or balms for nourishment and protection, and grooming tools like brushes and clippers.

Beyond beard care products, it also helps to pay attention to your skincare. As a good rule of thumb, exfoliate every few days, moisturize as much as you can, and apply sunscreen to protect yourself from the damage that UV rays can cause.

Final thoughts

There is no reason you should give up on beards just because it’s a little patchy in the beginning. With enough time and care, you might just have the godlike beard you’ve always wanted. Just make sure to put in the work.

Make sure to get the rightbeard products as well. We have a wide selection of all the best products to help you grow a beard that puts Paul Bunyan to shame.
